The Role of Technology in Modern Tennis

Technology has improved and changed the game of tennis drastically over the last decade. Changing everything in tennis from how players train to how matches are officiated. These changes increase players accuracy on the court and the fan experience.  One of the biggest technological changes in tennis is the Hawk-Eye system. This system uses multiple cameras to track the trajectory of the ball to help determine if the ball is in or out. It creates a 3D image of the balls path which provides precise line calls and minimizes mistakes. This ensuring fairness in tennis matches where the smallest margin of whether or not a ball is out can make the biggest differences in the game. Tennis has given us some of the biggest competitors as well as year long rivalries. The four biggest names in tennis competition are Andy Murray , Novak Djyokavic , Rodger Federer and Rafael Nadal. These four players have had year long battles against each other where they have constantly been competing between each other. often referred to as the "Big Four"—has spanned over two decades, creating unforgettable tennis history. .   There are many tennis events that help players gain rankings and prize money. For professions tennis players tournaments are divided  into tours managed by the ATP for men and WTP for women. ATP is "Association of Tennis Professionals" and WTP stand for "Women's Tennis Association."  The main events in Professional Tennis are the four grand slam tournaments. These tournaments offer the most amount of prize money and also the most ranking points. Under the grand slams are the ATP and WTP tours. These are different tournaments that hold different ranking opportunity and prize money.  In men’s tennis, the ATP Tour is organized into tiers, with the Masters 1000 tournaments awarding the most ranking points after the Grand Slams. Grand Slam Tournaments  There are four Main tennis tournaments that occur throughout the year, these are called grand slams. Each tournament tests players skill, endurance and patience as each tournament plays very differently to the next. Wimbledon  The oldest grand slam of all four of these is Wimbledon. It has been held in London since 1877. Wimbledon takes place in Wimbledon, London and is held every year in the midst of summer in July. This grand slam is best known for its traditions and elegance, such as the finely cut and painted grass for the courts, the white dress code, royal patronage. Wimbledon is a highly prestigious tournament where many celebrities and even royal family members attend for a thrilling day out. The grass courts cause a fast, low bouncing ball where it favours players with quick reflexes.
